Uses
This is a combination medicine used together with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Metformin and pioglitazone is not for treating type 1 diabetes.
Side Effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea, weakness, sore throat, muscle pain, weight gain, tooth problems or a metallic taste in the mouth may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. If stomach symptoms return later (after taking the same dose for several days or weeks), tell your doctor right away. Stomach symptoms that occur after the first days of your treatment may be signs of lactic acidosis.
Precautions
Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to pioglitazoneor metformin; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
