Indications: It is used to treat acromegaly and conditions associated with hyperprolactinemia like amenorrhea, infertility, and hypogonadism, prolactin-secreting adenomas. it is also used to prevent ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. It is also used to treat Parkinson’s disease.
Uses
It is used alone or with other medications (such as levodopa) to treat Parkinson’s disease. It can improve your ability to move and can decrease shakiness (tremor), stiffness, slowed movement, and unsteadiness. It may also decrease the number of episodes of not being able to move (“on-off syndrome”).
Side Effects
Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, lightheadedness, tiredness, constipation, or headachemay occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Precautions
Before taking bromocriptine, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other ergot medications (such as ergotamine, pergolide); or if you have any other allergies.
